This vintage serving bowl features a Woodleaf pattern by Continental Kilns, made in the United States in the mid to late 1940s.

The ceramic bowl has a brown, green, and gray colors design on the white background with a glossy finish.

It measures 10.25 inches in length, 9.25 inches in width, and 2.25 inches in height.

The mid-century modern style piece would make a great piece to display or for special occasions. It's recommended that you handwash it and don't subject it to the harshness of a dishwasher.

Add a touch of vintage elegance to your collection with these exquisite Woodleaf pattern pieces by Continental Kilns, a historic pottery company that operated in Chester, West Virginia, from 1944 to 1954. Renowned for its artistry and craftsmanship, Continental Kilns was founded under the leadership of Vincent Broomhall, a celebrated designer and former art director of Edwin M. Knowles China Co. Broomhall aimed to create high-quality translucent ware inspired by the delicate beauty of Belleek pottery.

A Brief History of Continental Kilns

The company’s story began in November 1944, when the former Davidson Porcelain Co. plant was transformed into a state-of-the-art facility for producing hand-painted underglaze china and elegant giftware. By January 1945, the production of "one-fired" translucent pieces was in full swing, thanks to the installation of advanced double tunnel kilns and the expertise of a team led by industry veterans.

With its emphasis on timeless design and superior quality, Continental Kilns quickly became known for producing approximately 5,000 dozen pieces monthly, featuring intricate patterns like Woodleaf. This pattern showcases hand-painted artistry that epitomizes the mid-century modern aesthetic.
