This striking antique carnival glass tumbler was produced by H. Northwood & Co. of Wheeling, West Virginia, in the celebrated Oriental Poppy pattern. Made in rich black amethyst glass with brilliant iridescent carnival finish, the tumbler features gracefully arched panels framing stylized Oriental poppy blossoms and foliage. Under reflected light, the glass displays vivid electric blue, violet, magenta, and gold iridescence, while appearing nearly black when viewed without direct illumination, a hallmark of black amethyst carnival glass.

Introduced during Northwood's golden era of carnival glass production, the Oriental Poppy pattern is admired for its bold floral motif and dramatic color play. Black amethyst examples are especially desirable among collectors because of their deep base color and vibrant iridescent surface, making each example unique depending on the lighting.

Condition:
Very Good with no chips, cracks, or repairs observed. The iridescent finish is exceptionally vibrant, displaying strong electric blue, purple, gold, and magenta highlights over the black amethyst base. Light shelf wear is present on the underside of the base, consistent with age and careful handling.
