Northwood Dandelion Marigold Carnival Glass Tumbler

A beautiful antique carnival glass tumbler produced by the H. Northwood & Co. in its sought-after Dandelion pattern. This example features vibrant marigold iridescence over an olive green base glass, creating exceptional color play with gold, purple, blue, and green highlights depending on the light. Raised molded sunflower blossoms, leaves, and flowing stems wrap the exterior, while the interior displays the continuation of the floral motif through the translucent green glass. The base is finished with a crisp sixteen-point starburst, characteristic of quality early carnival glass production.

Northwood introduced carnival glass in the first decade of the twentieth century and became one of its premier American manufacturers. The Dandelion pattern remains a favorite among collectors for its elegant Art Nouveau-inspired floral decoration and attractive iridescent finish.

Condition
Very good antique condition. The tumbler displays excellent iridescence with crisp molded detail and a well-defined starburst base. Light age-appropriate wear to the base is present from normal use. No chips, cracks, or repairs were observed. A few typical factory air bubbles are present, consistent with early carnival glass production.

This tumbler was acquired at a collector's estate auction in Chester County, Pennsylvania.
