Harmony Kingdom Vishnu TJHDSN LE 500 Deity Ann Richmond Archive

Ann Richmond portrayed Vishnu with the dense symbolism associated with one of the principal forms of Brahman, the Supreme Spirit. His crown represents supreme authority, while his four arms carry the conch shell, discus, lotus and mace—symbols of divine sound, the wheel of time, the unfolding universe and the power of knowledge. Garuda, Vishnu's crowned eagle and a powerful totem against evil, sits behind him.

Vishnu rests upon the coiled serpent Shesha Nag, whose six sculpted heads represent the innumerable desires that can overwhelm the mind and the self-control needed to master them. Inside, “NA & SL Blancmange” refers to one of Richmond's favorite 1980s groups and its song “Vishnu”; a cobra also alludes to a beer found in British Indian restaurants, and Richmond included her handkerchief on the base in memory of the heavy cold she endured while creating the piece.

Carved in 2006 and released September 28, 2006, Vishnu was made in England as a particularly small Fixed Edition of just 500 pieces. It reached stores March 10, 2007 as part of the Small Treasure Jest subset.

This example has a documented history that distinguishes it from an ordinary secondary-market Vishnu. It comes directly from former Harmony Kingdom Archives inventory dispersed at auction in August 2026 and was acquired by AtopTheTables from Archive Lot HK57.
