Harmony Kingdom Under the Canopy TJBI3 Peter Calvesbert Treasure Jest Archive

Under the Canopy, created by Peter Calvesbert, is a Small Treasure Jest. The black heron's unusual feeding technique inspired Peter Calvesbert: the bird stands in shallow water and spreads its wings like an umbrella, creating shade believed to attract fish.

In Madagascar the bird is called “Lomba Comba,” meaning “he who fishes indoors.” Inside Under the Canopy, the expected predator-prey relationship is reversed as a fish fights back in Clint Eastwood style.

Carved in 2004, Under the Canopy was made in England and released June 3, 2004. It was issued as a fixed edition with an edition size of 1,500.
