Harmony Kingdom Unbearables TJLEBE Limited Edition Bear Picnic Multi-Compartment

Designed by Peter Calvesbert, Unbearables was carved in 1994 and released on January 1, 1995. Made in England, this large Treasure Jest was the first in Harmony Kingdom’s series of signed and numbered multi-compartment limited-edition box figurines. It was produced in an edition of 2,500.

The sculpture depicts a picnic overrun by eight very hungry and curious bears. Six humans and their three dogs have learned a valuable lesson about Nature’s powerful forces, while a shattered television has fallen victim to one of the hairy characters. The hidden mouse is beneath a bear’s bottom, next to the dog on top of the picnic table.

There is plenty for collectors to discover. The tabletop includes a message about Anne Archer, one of Peter’s favorite actresses. The wine bottles bear the names “Noel” and “Lisa”, while “Broadway GC” refers to a widely used golf club. “Hogs” on an overturned chair reflects Peter’s affection for Harley Davidson motorcycles.

The Early Interior

The first 772 examples were produced with empty interiors. The remaining pieces contained a miniature Unbearables inside.

All six examples cataloged so far in our Archive inventory fall within that first group of 772. These are the early empty-interior version, not the later version containing the miniature.

From the Harmony Kingdom Archives

This example has a documented history that distinguishes it from an ordinary secondary-market Unbearables. It comes directly from the former Harmony Kingdom Archives inventory dispersed at auction in August 2026 and was acquired by AtopTheTables from Archive Lot HK66.

Our physical Archive inventory currently contains six cataloged examples, numbered 612, 621, 623, 641, 648, and 661.

These pieces remained in former Harmony Kingdom company storage until the Archive was dispersed.

Original Archive Contents

The original production release was hand-numbered, signed by the artist, and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Each Archive example is offered with the original materials that accompanied that particular piece.

When original paperwork accompanied an individual example, that material will be included even if it is not shown in every photograph. Some Archive examples did not contain paperwork, and replacement or duplicate original materials are not added.

Condition

This piece is offered in its archive-kept condition. Any original packaging may show storage or handling wear consistent with its age and years in the Harmony Kingdom Archives.
