Harmony Kingdom The Mushroom RW98MU 1998 Royal Watch Archive

The Mushroom, created by Martin Perry Studios, was the Royal Watch Collector's Club redemption piece reserved exclusively for 1998 members. Its mushroom-shaped exterior conceals one of the qualities that made the club pieces especially appealing to collectors: an unexpectedly elaborate scene inside.

Opening the piece reveals a colorful library populated by Lord Byron and bookworms. The contrast between the mushroom exterior and the miniature literary world within turns the box into a small narrative surprise rather than simply a decorative figurine.

Carved in 1997, The Mushroom was made in China and released January 1, 1998 as a Timed Edition. It retired March 1, 1999 with a final edition size of 7,908.
