Play Ball, created by David Lawrence, is a Limited Zookeepers edition whose subject and details place it within Harmony Kingdom's distinctive tradition of narrative box figurines. Playful polar bears are the subject of this box figurine. Its interior contains a spaceship that opens to reveal a three-eyed alien and the inscription “Oates was here.” A nose peeks from beneath the scroll with a treasure map for Cathay.
Each piece was hand-numbered and bears David Lawrence's monogram.
Carved in 1997, Play Ball was made in England and released June 1, 1998. It was issued as a limited Limited Zookeepers edition with an edition size of 7,200.

This example has a documented history that distinguishes it from an ordinary secondary-market Play Ball. It comes directly from former Harmony Kingdom Archives inventory dispersed at auction in August 2026 and was acquired by AtopTheTables from Archive Lot HK119.
The Archive group includes 10 examples being offered by AtopTheTables. These pieces remained in former Harmony Kingdom company storage until the Archive was dispersed. Four of the 10 are marked Sample on the bottom of the lid (see photo).
