Harmony Kingdom Pecking Order Cat Dog Mouse TJBM Treasure Jest Archive

Pecking Order cheerfully defies the expression “three’s a crowd.” Peter Calvesbert places an unlikely trio together at rest, with a mouse nestled safely between a cat’s paws while a dog protects both companions.

Version I turns the interior into a catalog of Mad Murphy’s favorite possessions, including a teddy bear, guitar, stereo, pin-up poster, Pungu magazine, bicycle pump, after shave and hot water bottle. The anagram on Murphy’s pillow unscrambles to “Subaru Forester,” the new car Peter had just purchased, while Murphy himself emerges from the piece.

In the Infinity Version, Tubs the turtle replaced Murphy. Its interior shows a mouse correcting a “Beware of the Log” sign to “Beware of the Dog,” only to be flattened by a log. Carved in 1999 and released June 1, 1999, Pecking Order was made in England and retired October 17, 2003, with an edition of 16,495.
