Mutton Chops turns Aesop's familiar wolf-in-sheep's-clothing fable into a compact Peter Calvesbert box figurine. Two placid sheep share the scene with a hungry wolf disguised in wool, while Calvesbert's signature mouse hides in the lamb's wool on the wolf's back.
Inside are two lamb chops, extending the joke beneath the lid. The inscription “TYLS” means “Thank You Lynn Stryck,” recognizing the collector who suggested the idea to Peter.
Carved in 1996 and released January 1, 1998, Mutton Chops was made in England as the Royal Watch club gift exclusive to 1998 members. The timed edition totaled 26,028 pieces and retired December 1, 1998.
