Morning Glory opens onto one of Lord Byron’s more awkward social encounters in Harmony Garden. He approaches the front door of the flower, only to have the lady of the house mistake the well-traveled bug for a door-to-door salesbug.

The scene is a compact example of the playful storytelling that runs through Lord Byron’s Harmony Garden, where flowers become buildings and the miniature insect world carries on a surprisingly human social life.

The piece was produced in both England and China; 3,885 examples were made in England. Examples from our Archive inventory will be selected at random, so country of manufacture may vary.
