Harmony Kingdom Leclair TJDLMI5 David Lawrence Mouse Violin Archive

David Lawrence drew Leclair from his own experience learning to play the violin alongside his daughter Rose. The mouse and violin case turn that family experience into a miniature musical narrative, while the name honors French composer Jean-Marie Leclair, known for his works for violin.

The interior is filled with Lawrence family references. “Mrs. B” identifies village violin teacher Mrs. Benison, Rose's Grade 2 music book appears among the details, and “Fiddlin' Folk” recalls the children's violin group she led at church concerts and village fêtes. Stickers on the case record places Lawrence visited in 2002, and his trademark acorn appears in the collecting hat.

Carved in 2002 and released December 31, 2002, Leclair was made in England as a Fixed Edition of 5,000 pieces, divided into 2,500 Version One and 2,500 Version Two examples worldwide. It reached stores April 1, 2003 as part of the Small Treasure Jest subset. The Archive check-in record does not designate these examples by version, so no version is claimed in this listing.
