David Lawrence’s Ivory Tower is decorated with a distinguished gathering of owls and combines the birds’ scholarly appearance with the artist’s characteristic hidden jokes and inscriptions. Along the base appears the weather proverb “If the oak’s before the ash you’ll only get a splash”, together with the curious score “Charles 2 NOL 0.”
Inside, the mood changes from wisdom to romance. A sprig of mistletoe is accompanied by the words “Kiss Kiss,” providing a playful surprise beneath the stately exterior.
Each Ivory Tower was hand-numbered and bears David Lawrence’s monogram. The limited edition comprised 7,200 pieces.
