Harmony Kingdom Flight of Fancy Hornbill TJBI2 Peter Calvesbert Treasure Jest Archive

Flight of Fancy, created by Peter Calvesbert, is a Small Treasure Jest. Peter Calvesbert used the hornbill's unusual nesting behavior as the basis for this piece: the mother is sealed inside a nesting cavity while the male supplies food through a narrow opening. This private pair even posts a “Do not disturb” sign.

Crisps and chocolate suggest pregnancy cravings, while inscriptions reference Cotswold Wildlife Park and Peter's April 17, 2002 cuckoo sighting. The signature mouse peers from the nesting cavity; Version One shows a keeper's feather-retrieval gear, while the Infinity interior shows hatching eggs.

Carved in 2002, Flight of Fancy was made in England and released May 24, 2002. It retired March 25, 2005. It was issued as a retired with an edition size of 4,829.
