Drake's Fancy is an early Harmony Kingdom Large Treasure Jest box figurine designed by Peter Calvesbert and first released in 1990. Depicting a Mandarin duck, it was produced in an edition of 5,508 pieces and remained in production until its retirement on April 1, 1999.
As one of Harmony Kingdom's earliest designs, Drake's Fancy predates many of the features collectors would later associate with the company's box figurines. The original version had an empty interior and did not incorporate the hidden mouse, inscriptions or hallmarks that became familiar elements of later Harmony Kingdom pieces.
In 1996, the design was modified by placing an egg inside the box and adding a treble clef to the duck's tail feathers. This Archive example contains the egg, identifying it as the later variation of Drake's Fancy.
