Harmony Kingdom Cherubini TJDLCA7 David Lawrence Cat Archive

David Lawrence turned Cherubini into a theatrical little character: a once-stringy alley cat transformed into a sleek, well-traveled feline companion to the fictional opera conductor known as the Great Latrino. The name also recalls Luigi Cherubini, the Italian-born composer known for his dramatic operas, sharp tongue and meticulous nature.

The top hat adds another layer to the joke. Its “10/6” marking identifies it with the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland, while the interior continues the literary reference with a carrot and footprints suggesting that the White Rabbit has just passed through.

Carved in 2002 and released October 22, 2002, Cherubini was made in England in an edition of 3,500 pieces. It reached stores February 1, 2003 as part of the Small Treasure Jest subset and was retired March 2, 2008.

This example has a documented history that distinguishes it from an ordinary secondary-market Cherubini. It comes directly from former Harmony Kingdom Archives inventory dispersed at auction in August 2026 and was acquired by AtopTheTables from Archive Lot HK55.
