Peter Calvesbert’s Big Blue is an impressive Royal Watch Collector’s Club box figurine depicting a tightly gathered pod of whales above a sculpted ocean base. Carved in 1995 and made in England, the piece was produced in an edition of 4,056.
Big Blue served as a Royal Watch Club redemption piece during the club’s earliest years. The same whale design was used for both the 1996 charter year and the 1997 membership year, with the principal difference being the inscription on the front of the base. Examples are known with “Royal Watch Charter 1996” or “Royal Watch 1997,” while a small number were reportedly marked “Royal Watch Charter 1997” in error.
This Archive example is the Charter 1996 version, with “Royal Watch Charter 1996” clearly inscribed on the front of the base. Peter also hid the familiar Harmony Kingdom mouse among the whales’ tails.
From the Harmony Kingdom Archives
This example has a documented history that distinguishes it from an ordinary secondary-market Big Blue. It comes directly from the former Harmony Kingdom Archives inventory dispersed at auction in August 2026 and was acquired by AtopTheTables from Archive Lot HK61.
An especially interesting feature of this example is its original cylindrical Archive packaging. The cylinder retains a label identifying the piece as “Extra Large Whales” with the item number TJRWWH.
The figurine itself corresponds to the Royal Watch piece commonly documented as Big Blue, RW97WH, while the original Archive packaging preserves the alternate TJRWWH / Extra Large Whales identification. Both identifiers are being retained in our records rather than treating one as an error.
Your purchase will include an AtopTheTables Certificate of Authenticity & Provenance documenting its connection to the Harmony Kingdom Archives.
Original Archive Contents
This piece is offered exactly as it was preserved in the Harmony Kingdom Archives and includes its original cylindrical packaging labeled TJRWWH “Extra Large Whales.”
Any additional original paperwork or materials physically accompanying this example will also be included. Replacement or duplicate materials are not added to make an Archive example appear more complete than it was when found.
Condition
This Archive example displays very well overall, but it does have one small chip along the inner edge of one whale’s mouth, located within the clustered center area of the sculpture.
Because the chip is recessed among the surrounding whales, it is considerably less noticeable during normal display than when the area is viewed closely. The damage is being fully disclosed and photographed so the buyer knows exactly what is present.
The piece otherwise retains strong overall presentation, including the sculpted whale details, blue-green surface accents, and the clearly visible “Royal Watch Charter 1996” inscription on the base.
Please review the photographs as part of the description for the condition and contents of this Archive example.
Measurements
Big Blue measures approximately 6.06 inches long × 4.49 inches wide × 4.69 inches high.
