Harmony Kingdom Belle Helene TJDLMI4 David Lawrence Mouse Archive

David Lawrence built Belle Helene around the English ritual of tea, placing a contented mouse in an elegant cup. The name refers to Belle Helene, a French tea blending pear and caramel flavors, while Lawrence worked his trademark acorn into the cup's decorative pattern.

Inside the cup are two golf tees—a visual play on the 1920s song “Tea for Two.” A miniature scorecard adds an insider's Harmony Kingdom reference through the initials PC and DL for fellow artist Peter Calvesbert and David Lawrence.

Carved in 2002 and released December 31, 2002, Belle Helene was made in England as a Fixed Edition of 5,000 pieces, divided into 2,500 Version One and 2,500 Version Two examples worldwide. It reached stores April 1, 2003 as part of the Small Treasure Jest subset. The Archive check-in record does not designate these examples by version, so no version is claimed in this listing.
