Harmony Kingdom Artful Dodger Golden Retriever TJHO8 Peter Calvesbert Archive

Artful Dodger captures a Golden Retriever using those famously persuasive eyes to suggest he has not yet been fed, while a concealed heap of kibble behind the overturned bowl tells another story. The idea came from Harmony Kingdom contest winner Cyndra Henry, whose name is inscribed inside the box.

Peter Calvesbert added a very specific early-2000s joke while carving the piece. After struggling with a new computer running Microsoft XP, he carved “XP” inside the dog bowl, playing on the British expression “dog’s breakfast” for something that is a mess. His signature mouse peeks from beneath the retriever’s shaggy coat.

Carved in 2001 and released January 7, 2002, Artful Dodger was made in England as an Open Edition and reached stores April 1, 2002 as part of the Small Treasure Jest subset.

This example has a documented history that distinguishes it from an ordinary secondary-market Artful Dodger. It comes directly from former Harmony Kingdom Archives inventory dispersed at auction in August 2026 and was acquired by AtopTheTables from Archive Lot HK134.

This Archive example is unboxed and does not include its identification card. Mold was noted during physical Archive check-in - but the figurine was sealed inside its plastic. The box was discarded.
