Harmony Kingdom Ark Teapot YT42HK Prototype Cardew Limited Edition

Designed by Peter Calvesbert and Paul Cardew, this Ark Teapot was the second collaboration between Harmony Kingdom and Cardew Designs. Made at Cardew Design Studios in Devonshire, England, it features Lord Byron and Bumbles the bee riding atop the teapot ship into the next millennium. The whimsical vessel brings together Harmony Kingdom’s animal sculpture and Cardew’s ceramic design in a distinctive collectible teapot.

The regular production edition was limited to 4,850, with each teapot hand-numbered and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. This Archive example differs from that standard description: its underside bears the Harmony Kingdom and Cardew Design marks, artist signatures, and PROTOTYPE printed in gold text. The printed edition denominator is /4,850, but no individual edition number is present. Its original box is separately handwritten “Prototype” in black marker.

From the Harmony Kingdom Archives

This example has a documented history that distinguishes it from an ordinary secondary-market Ark Teapot. It comes directly from the former Harmony Kingdom Archives inventory dispersed at auction in August 2026 and was acquired by AtopTheTables from Archive Lot HK82.

Our physical Archive inventory contains 15 individually cataloged prototype teapots. Minor glaze differences have been observed among them, including variations in the darkness of the wash, particularly on the underside of the lid. Other differences appear slight. These observations are not presented as officially designated production variants.

These pieces remained in former Harmony Kingdom company storage until the Archive was dispersed.

This specific example, internally identified as HKTPLET42-I, includes its original box with handwritten prototype notation. The original brochure and original manufacturer certificate are not included with just one of these 15.
