A striking antique majolica cake plate produced by Georg Schmider Zell Pottery in Zell, Germany. This richly colored piece features classic majolica relief decoration with raised grape vines, leaves, and clusters surrounding the rim. The warm golden yellow ground contrasts beautifully with the intricate molded grapevine border, while the center medallion showcases an ornate swirling design in deep blue and green tones.

The underside bears the ZS mark for Zell, associated with Georg Schmider’s Zell pottery works, a well-known German majolica producer active during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Zell majolica is admired for its bold glazing, sculptural relief, and colorful natural motifs inspired by European Art Nouveau and historic decorative traditions.
