Antique Limoges France LS&S Hand Decorated Porcelain Cabinet Plate

This elegant antique Limoges porcelain cabinet plate was produced and decorated by Lazarus Straus & Sons (LS&S), one of the most respected American importers and decorators of fine French porcelain during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Crafted on a Limoges blank and decorated in the LS&S decorating studios, the plate features a beautifully scalloped and molded rim enhanced with extensive gold gilt accents surrounding delicate sprays of hand-painted blue, pink, lavender, and golden floral motifs.

The refined botanical decoration, embossed shell-like molding, and lavish gilt work are characteristic of the Belle Époque and Edwardian eras, when finely decorated Limoges porcelain was highly prized in affluent American homes. Pieces such as this were often displayed in china cabinets or hung as decorative wall art rather than used for dining service.

Based on the LS&S Limoges mark and decorative style, this plate was most likely produced between 1895 and 1915, during the peak period of Lazarus Straus & Sons' Limoges decorating operations. The blue LS&S decorator's mark and green Limoges France mark are consistent with pieces from the turn-of-the-century period.

Condition
Very good antique condition. No chips, cracks, or repairs observed. Gold gilt remains attractive with expected age-related wear and light rubbing, particularly along portions of the raised scalloped rim. The hand-painted decoration remains vibrant and well preserved. Minor manufacturing irregularities and light wear consistent with age and careful display use. Presents beautifully.
