September 7, 1936 is inscribed between the adult's forelegs, “Benjamin” recalls the name given to the last known Thylacine, and “Devil” references the Tasmanian Devil. The £3 marking represents the historic bounty for the two adults and two juveniles, while a chicken hides from the predators and Peter's mouse shelters between the pups.
